Adventurous Sports in New York City
Hiking: A hiking and camping vacation is a wonderful way to see the land as it was before civilization -- natural, rugged, uninhabited and beautiful.
The Delaware River in the Catskills is the perfect outdoor vacation spot complete with tubing, rafting, canoeing and even camping along the way!

Adirondack hikes are wild and friendly - perfect for enjoying the outdoors. It is an extraordinary hiking trail that will lead you to the highest peaks, the loveliest waterfalls and isolated lakes. Phelps Mountain is a moderate climb rewarded by 360-degree views of the high peaks and take a refreshing dip in Heart Lake. The Mt. Marcy is the highest mountain in New York State at a height of 5, 300 feet. It has challenged even the most professional hikers!
Gliding: “I’m like a bird soaring high and high into the blue skies’’ is what you’ll be humming as you take flight into the blue skies as a Glider. Gliding can be a fun filled-adventurous activity in New York City. On a clear day you can see from New York City to Montauk. Whether you are new to the experience or an established soaring enthusiast, you will love the National Soaring Museum in Elmira, New York City. The museum houses the world's largest exhibit of fully assembled classic and contemporary sailplanes and historic gliders. Enjoy WWII gliders, cockpit simulator sailplane rides and hourly films.
Hot Balloon Ride: Enjoy a hot balloon ride into the clear blue skies. New York City has ballooning companies that offer trips over the Adirondacks, Catskills, Long Island, Letchworth State Park and Chautauqua Lake. Most trips are scheduled early in the morning or late in the afternoon to ensure the calmest wind conditions and most dramatic light. The idea of hot air ballooning in New York City brings to mind images of "Around the World in 80 Days," "The Wizard of Oz," or even a soap opera wedding. Whatever the image, the experience is spectacular and exhilarating.
Biking: Bicycle your way through the Hudson Valley, in New York City. Start a 60-mile trip through the Hyde Park Town Hall. Travel north three-tenths of a mile to the Vanderbilt Mansion. Then visit Mills Mansion an 1895 Beaux Arts mansion, with paintings, period furnishings and Oriental objects d'art. Travel to Montgomery Place, the 1804 Livingston mansion, a 23-room family estate with 434-acre woods, garden and nature trails. Travel through the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome which houses vintage aeroplanes, flying WW1 and earlier aircraft and offers open cockpit biplane rides, Val-Kill Eleanor Roosevelt's private retreat and Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site and his Museum. Then complete your tour with a return to the Town Hall.
Fishing: Doroth B –8th is New York City’s finest 90-ft luxury super liner cruiser. It offers variety of leisure water activities such as fishing while you cruise by the Manhattan Skyline and have a look at the magnificent Statue of Liberty-symbol of pride, freedom and peace. Fishing has been good with the anglers who got a mixed bag of sea bass, Porgies & Blackfish.
